Default School me on launching a website

I have a an idea that I believe would save lots of people time, and potentially increase traffic to other sites. I also have a domain name that could work, although I haven't registered it yet.

I understand the need to hire a developer, but I am afraid of talking to a developer and having them steal my idea. I expect the costs of this to be well into the thousands, as the site has the potential become very in depth, and code heavy.

Lastly, I don't know how to go about hosting my site on a server, as traffic could eventually be high.

Anyone that could give me some tips or advice let me know.

register your domain, do your DD and find a trusted developer and get a quote. There are many on this site. They can also help you set up hosting your site, but you need to sign up for a hosting service.

just remember, scared money doesn't make money.

I pitched the idea to my cousin, who is the smartest person with computers that I know. He said he knows coding, but doesn't now if this is out of his scope. But he knows more about what to look for than me. He sees the same potential in it that I do

i'd say you need to hit the book store and learn some basic things about web design and development. do you really want to run a site and know nothing about how it is really working? there is so much info out there it can be overwhelming but you need to just push through it and get some basic knowledge first

I am sorry but any website is going to cost especially since your idea is probably more of an application than a website. How are you planning on building it let alone marketing it if as you mentioned you have no money to dedicate to it?

I understand that it is going to cost, it takes money to make money, and I get that. And it is more of an application, as it is based off of user accounts.

I don't know if this is something where trying to get investors would be beneficiary, but I believe that other people would see the potential in this.
