Anyone do domaining?
Anyone do domaining? I do do it, it is my primary source of income. It is like stocks to me.
Anyone else on here participate in buying and selling domains? It is always nice to network with other domainers

Do you mean buying domains and sitting on them to charge people who want them more money? Isn't that illegal?

Not this arguement again.
Its not retarded, its like owning a commercial property, what are you supposed to buy it, not use and it and just give it away to a business who might need it ?
And its illegal in parts of the world for some silly reason.Trying to go from active to passive income in 2013...

It works occasionally I know a few people who have thought of about 100 names and bought them all and had offers for the odd one or two.
The problem is if a company is registered with the companies house, and the domain is actually their name, they can just claim it legally.
I see your point though

How in the world are you making enough money to support a comfortable level of life?
1/Domain a year @ $50k/domain?
10/Domains a year @ $5k/domain?
I'm all for alternate sources of income but unless you are running something similar to namecheap, I can't see it being sustainable with incredible amounts of risk and effort. I have a buddy who in the late 90s went around and bought out domain hoarders for dimes on the dollar and the only reason he did that was for the one chance to sell just one domain for $250,000.
I'm not asking for any insider secrets but how the heck can you even make a living doing it?East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.

I have plenty of domains that I use or plan on using. Although I do know of plenty of people who make a living at namepros who buy names, sit on them with sedo or other means, and sell or auction them hoping to make that 20k+ sale off of one name. It is possible though and can get very heated. For example a year or so ago someone regged typed camroullete.com and sold it to a buyer for around 2k, who in turn ended up selling it for over 100k I believe.

I do.
If the domain name was registered before the trademark was the company can not acquire it legally ... they will have to pay.
Buy at reseller value and sell at end-user price. I mean I am in college have little expenses I have $0 debt and money to spare. It is good enough for me.

I think people making out who just so happen to own a domain and get offers are the ones making money. I don't have the article but I remember reading about a guy who made a site in the late 90's didn't really do much but held on to the name, and he made a ton of money when a Corp offered to buy it.
I would need to make over 6 figures a year atleast to "domain" for a living. Holding onto 400 domains and making some pocket change wont allow me to do so full time, and I'm sure most others don't.
That being said, I came up with an awesome name for my website because of these "hoarders", so cheers to them!
