My question for you is, what is your definition of "safe???"
Some consider safe under their mattress next to their shotgun
, while others think safe is inflation + 5%.
Aside from that, there are some massive opportunities right now for those who have funds, or are able to raise capital. You just have to have your niche, and play the bear game right now. In my fund's sector (distressed debt), it is a feeding frenzy.

Gold (it’s the only true currency) and a safe to put it in. Oh and some ammo and guns for when the $hit hits the fan and the poor start to riot.
I'm Invested.
Land is also cheap now in some areas and water front property prices are down and will always go back up. Lots in my area were going for 1/2 a million plus last year and now for less then 1/4. Land is something they just can’t make more of especially waterfront.

Personally, what I am doing with the Cash is prepaying my kids college education. The cost of education is rising at an average rate of 10% per year. That is more return than any "safe" investment... So I simply prepaid both of my Kids colleges and ow I do not have to worry about it !

Theres a few you can do.
MM accounts are okay.
Interest earning checkin and savings will provide with ease of flexibility.
4.00%+ CDs will get you more return but you will need to hold more...
40k with our firm will get u over 10% return paid yearly but its gonna be held on for awhile, it will be secured by real estate.
You can also buy unsecured notes with SumnerHarrington / Zanett: about 7.25% on a 3 months investment or 8% on a 6 months.
stocks are not a good play right now, although i do see coal stocks to rise in the next few months to come.
again, the MOST safe, would probably be a FDIC insured CD account about 4.5%. or... under your mattress and protect it with the shotgun like what Spencer said.
Good Luck.UV
