Paypal does sheit for the seller. Buyers are protected and given license to ill but sellers' woes wind up in the lap of the credit card company who cares jack about you.

I'm still in the process of getting my online business setup and launched but from my research cdgcommerce seems to be one of the best out there.

I would say that they all do a very good job until you get into one of those situation where there might be a conflict of any kind but it gets worst when there is a dispute or a case of fraud. Then since we often are the last involved in the transaction we end up the one that pays.
Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.

yep. i usually always get fked on chargebacks, so i am VERY meticulous in my prevention efforts. in reality, it is up to us as merchants to ensure we do our part to prevent fraud. i am using paynet on my iPhone. will see how it pans out. I've used Thompson Merchant Svs in the past and loooooooved them. Just looking for an easy iPhone app now, so going with someone different (Paynet).

Its hard to find a solution or service that prevent or detect fraud that is fordable for smaller companis and mostly efficient and relaible an it has to be ready for mobile e-commerce that is the new trend that will change the way we shop online. Most of the people will actually confuse a credit card validation and a fraud prevention service that will through its process avoid some gateway fees and others when it detect a risky transaction. Fraudsters are using a credit card that looks valid to defraud a site and will often have the goods shipped at a third party address that they sold the good to. They will sell the goods to an individual that will pay them and then they will by the good with the stollen or fake card to get it shipped to the other individual address so they are not really involved in the transaction and this makes them even harder to detect and by the time the payment gateway and credit card company are made aware of those situations it often takes weeks or months. Especially in the travel and leisure industry. At the end the merchant always ends up with the invoice and lost of the goods or having to pay for somebody that got the service without knowing that he was part of the scheme unless he is a frendly fraudster that takes advantage of the system. I have to agree that it is the merchan responsability to get properly protected in order to avoid those lost of money that according to my experience will sometimes put the company in a risky financial situation. The gateway are not really prone to integrating some detection and prevention services into their process but it would fix the problem in most cases.
