I did franchise consulting for a few years...
It comes down to how much you have to invest, how many hours a week you want to work & what type of income you are expecting.

We've been to one of the local Tilted Kilts a few times. Service was deplorable. No cute skirt in the world could make up for the amount of dumb contained within every server we encountered. I can forgive a messed up order or two when there are only 2 servers and 20 in the party, but 2 wrong orders out of 4 is pretty bad.
Complete lack of knowledge when asked questions, spaced out look when asking for something a second or third time, etc.

Personally, I would look into becoming a regional developer for a new franchise. Build out a few for yourself and begin selling the rights in a state or two.

Really? There's a few 24hr gyms that opened, and since, even the bigger places such as Goodlife Fitness, have switched over to open 24hrs.
I figured there was some $$$ in that...
So if I want something that doesn't require much startup capital, little work and a lot of income what can you recommend

It's true. How hard was it for Goodlife and the big guns to just stay open 24 hours; effectively shutting down the competition.

Jersey Mikes.....
or
MeatHeads
Meatheads Burgers & Fries
Not sure if they are franchising yet.. They seem to be opening new locations. I prefer it over Five Guys.It is vital that we work to a few golden rules. Always work in a small team. Keep a very low profile. Only deal with people who come recommended. And it's like selling anything else: washing machines, hand made shoes, blowjobs. As long as you don't take the piss people will always come back for more. And that is not to say we don't have that special kind of magic that makes two kilos into three. But never be too greedy.
