Default Not many college grads have careers

I don't want to generalize, but I've noticed (at least with a lot of my friends) a lot of college grads (I'm one myself since May) don't have careers. They may have jobs, but not many are working traditional day jobs.

    Anyone else noticing this?

Is this common for college grads, no matter what the economic situation?

First of all, a traditional day job does not equal a career. A career is a not a job. A career is something like MTK and Raw have going. That is not a traditional day job.

College makes it easier to get a job. Getting a career is open to anyone.

No, it's because the economy sucks and it's getting worse.

The more experienced candidates are settling for entry level jobs in order to get employed. Therefore, new grads are pretty screwed.

And the cost of college is going up.

college-big-investment-paltry-return: Personal Finance News from Yahoo! Finance

At the local CC we have here, I paid near 1,000 dollars just for two classes, and thats not before books. My business law book was 220!!!. I said **** that, and rented it online from chegg.com for like 50.00. I probably should just drop out, but my family would have my head.

+1. All the answers are out there, it's just a matter of knowing how to properly use the available resources in order to accomplish the goals one has.

You can also use websites like Academic Earth (Academic Earth | Online Courses | Academic Video Lectures) to view a few courses from the most elite and leading universities in the world as well. I sometimes watch a few to help further or understand one of my own courses.

T.E.D. Talks is pretty sweet to.
