Seafood...
Me and my brother are looking into getting something started with seafood. We’re just brain storming but I figured maybe L4P can give us some quick insight. Any one with experience in the field or related that can chime in would be appreciated!
Without getting into details right now we have to look into what kind of licenses we’ll need and where exactly we can buy, well, sea food… oysters and such. We’re thinking of opening a sea food spot. Location will be in either LA County or Orange County.
Thanks!

Are you looking into being a distributor or opening up a market/store?

Have you heard of The Boiling Crab? they started out in Texas somewhere, have a couple stores in Socal, I think Garden Grove. They opened one up in San Jose and they're planning a couple more. All I can say is I drove an hour last wednesday and there around 6p.m. I couldn't even get my name on the list for a table for the rest of the day. Also, they don't take reservations. I've actually eaten there once before and it's pretty damn good. I don't know if you were starting a similar thing, but look them up. I feel like you can do very well in this.

I am a freshwater fish producer in NorCal. What you are talking about is not at all difficult. If I am understanding your concept correctly (and you would not be holding anything live), then the majority of your licensing would come from your locale regarding your "store", not so much for the purchase of seafood/fish/etc. Let me know how I can help you, I know several reputable folks who can supply you with what you want (depending upon what that is).

I live in a region of Spain where seafood is top. Everything is fresh and quality. What is really doing well here is online seafood shops. Selling and shipping it to where it is not readily available, and most of the time cheaper, even if it can be sourced in the local market as you cut out middle man and transportation costs. Some even send it cooked and prepared.
