alot of interesting theories in this thread. I, too, am looking for the next boom in this "limited" world with alot of potential. Reading through this thread, we can narrow down the big booms to about 2-3 things that should happen. I won't recap for anyone.

but only a few here are thinking outside of the box...and I'm glad because that is what gets you the farthest, what will cause a boom no one will understand or see coming. I'm sure of it...

the very definition of a boom is everyone jumping onboard, causing a distortion in the market.

If you have a skill or talent and can work with your hands artistically there will always be a customer. People want unique and if you can provide that, you'll survive. I speak from experience. I've been an artisan for the last 30+ years and yes there were tuff times but I haven't had a job since 1978. I apply my artistic talent (Mikey's Pinstriping) on cars and people will spend money when it comes to vanity. Vehicles seem to be the medium to advertise who you are. It's a lifestyle.

yes, thanks. But I think we are talking more about being the first to get a head jump on the boom (or creating one hint hint) so that when everyone finally "jumps onboard, causing a distortion in the market" (because the boom came out of nowhere for the lay and just seems like the way to go), then the person already involved has a major edge.
