Default Any one here have a patent? Curious about the process.

I have an invention (Utility) and already started talking to a lawyer.

I was just curious to know if anyone here has one so I could ask a few questions over PM about their experience.

    thanks

Step 1: go here and make sure no one is a step ahead of you.

Start ASAP mailing the drawings to your self and not opening them.

Maybe Allyson will chime in here before too long, she does all mine.

I went though the process once. I abandoned it after about $5000. Using a good IP attorney is important, it just wasn't worth it for the product I was working with. Although I still see copies of it floating around. Grrrrr.

Do go to the PTO since I believe proving "first use" is a key component to establishing, and defending IP rights. Be warned, enforcing and defending intellectual property is expensive.

Good luck! I hope you post your experience.
