Bunch of smart guys over at 37signals. "Rework" is one hell of a book, too.

I really need to get more involved with your company, obviously. lol Damn.

I just don't think I could do my job with the professional standards under those conditions.... But it would be nice to try.

    It's called self control.

These are work hard, play hard environments. They reward their employees, and attract the very best.

    I disagree.

Some of the best employees I have ever had (about 1,200) were some of the most boring and clean-living people I have ever met.
They were mostly work hard, play little individuals who were most favorably rewarded financially. They were also the types of people who lived well below their means and were unimpressed by soda machines and video games.

So basically you just said that my company isn't professional nor am I? That sure is what that sounded like.

*cough*Added $10 million in revenue in one year, must be doing something right*cough*

I didn't mean to say that you or your company is not professional. I just know we are completely separate fields conducting very difference types of business.

I guess everyone (and every company) is different.
My guess is the need for innovation in tech is greater than that in financial services. People tend to buy and sell the same things while technology changes every 6 to 12 months.

    Cleaning toilets doesn't count.

I'd love to see the hours those 1,200 people put in on average, versus startup employees. I guarantee it wouldn't be close. Google gives 3 amazing meals a day for a reason. Work is so awesome you don't want to go home. These are entrepreneurial jobs with a need for outside the box thinking.

These are proven methodologies, not speculation. It works.
