    Default Lost M3 Key

Lost 1 of my two keys a while back for an 08 M3. Just told the dealer and saw on a work order that they ordered a pair of keys for $500. My question to you is do they only come in pairs? $500 is silly.

i agree that 500 is a little absurd. but it is cool that the key has the capability to be programed to do all sorts of cool stuff remotely to the car if you have the programming experience.

That sounds about right for one key at retail price. I would order online or see if they'll cut you a better price.

If you dont need another master key, maybe save some money and just get a valet key for it.

You can order them separately. I just had to order a key for 335i with comfort access and it was about $280 for the pull out key part and fob. He gave me the option of ordering either but i needed both. Coding for it was $60. Comes ready to use if you don't have comfort access.

Pretty sure you can only order them in person with ID and proof of ownership. At least that's what i had to do.

I have a friend with a 335 and he is able to code his key to remotely perform tasks in the car. For example; changing window levels, AC/Heat, Radio, seat positions etc. They way I understand what he has told me is if you have the programming knowledge its pretty much limitless. Hes toying with it know since he just got the car at the end of this past summer, when he is able to make some progress Ill be sure to clue you in!
