New to the BMW M game! Looking for info.
I have made a few threads before about looking for a new Coupe 2+2. I have really looked at all my options and decided upon something from the BMW's M line up. The two cars I have looked at are used E92 M3's and M6's. I personally have zero experience with anything from BMW. I test drove the M3 already and I fell in love with it but I also saw an M6 on the lot that I really got excited about when I saw it.
I know that the M6 is more powerful and It also has (In my opinion) the better styling. The M3 is most definitely powerful, looks somewhat exciting but more importantly is cheaper for the amount of miles on the car. I weighed it out and I'd be paying roughly the same amount for a 08 M3 with 30-40k miles as I would for an 06-07 M6 with 40k-45k + miles. I am very weary about purchasing BMW's with high mileage because of the supposed high maintenance costs.
Well my questions being, for a used M3 and M6 how would the maintenance costs compare, and more importantly what is the average each one will set me back each year.
Also which one is more fun to drive, the M6 or the M3. I'd love some input from owners as well.
P.S.: This has come up, but I am not looking at any 3 series, 1 series, 6 series, 5 series or M5's.
P.S.S. Some funny things I've gone from an Elise to an BMW in less then 3 months space of deciding between cars. Was this close to actually purchasing an Elise, rather happy the deal fell through. I love the Elise but It's no good for NJ Streets.
P.S.S.S. I love custom cars but I have rarely seen any M6's that were extremely customized, I'd appreciate if someone posted up some of their favorites.Last edited by KingNikan; 11-11-2011 at 01:45 AM.

M3 M3 M3 M3 M3 and M3!
First of all you have a 50K warranty for 4 years, and you could always purchase one extending to 100K. I've driven both, and sure the V10 in the M6 is the monster, I feel that overall the M3 is more of a sporty powerful drive. M3's are EXTREMELY customizable, and have endless options. M6's are known to have a few more mechanical issues than M3's too. I'd say look around BIMMERPOST | BMW Forum, BMW News and BMW Blog and go to both sections and just read about both, the decision would come to you natrually.
Disclaimer: I am extremely biased towards the M3, as it is my next car when the next gen comes out in like 4 years.2011 Alpine White BMW 328xi
