what was the reason for the crash? not enough speed and they stalled? they didn't open the throttle enough on take off?

That is one TOUGH little jet. I watched a video showing the flight before the one where the crash occured and he almost did the same thing on that takeoff. You can't try to force those old jets off the runway. They tell you when they want to fly. He was pulling it into a huge drag rise situation with all that pitch.

He tried to force it off the ground. All of the swept jets from that era are a bit weird on take off. You can't try to fly them off even if you have enough speed. They fly off when they are good and ready. By yanking the nose up early he got in a high AOA situation and was inducing so much drag that it was slowing down. It finally flew, but was way too slow by that point. I can't believe how intact it is. Try that in an F-86 and you'd be a large smoking crater.Madness takes a toll. Please have exact change...
