Elevators are so banal these days. The new way to get up to your corner office (or penthouse) is a personal jetpack, reports CNET. The enterprising folks over at the Martin Aircraft Company — whose only product seems to be the Martin Jetpack, actually — are busy putting the finishing touches on a device that could safely boost someone up to the top of a skyscraper or much higher. Never thought we could one day predict Darwin Award winners ahead of time.

The company recently tested the jetpack at 5,000 feet above Canterbury, New Zealand, and it actually went pretty well. Once the dummy (no, it’s not quite so successful they want to test it on a real person yet) reached its peak, a ballistic parachute deployed just in case future customers are concerned about, you know, death. But hey, you know what they say — personal jetpack? $100,000. Broken legs from falling out of the sky from said jetpack? Free (after top-of-the-line private health insurance). Not having to wait for your driver to fight through rush hour traffic? Priceless.

There’s no word yet on whether Martin Aircraft is planning on collaborating with this company so moguls can conquer the world by land or sea.

cant wait to pick one up. If the price stays near 100k, thats tons of bang for buck for what you get.

The carter copter is another one I'd love to pick up, but last time I checked I don't think they are moving forward anymore
