LMFAO. My buddy is a controller for the Marines in quantico,va. He has some funny ass stories to tell whenever he comes in because lots of foreign diplomats land at his airport and all do not understand english one bit.

Heres a great "airchinaism" (as we call them)
Its a gorgeous day in the middle of no where (aka Grand Forks ND) and all of the students at UND are up doing their solos. Low and behold I hear this transmission and couldn't stop laughing for about 10 minutes. The atis information at the time of this transmission was "Whiskey" ,for those of you who dont know an Atis code is a way for ATC to make sure that you have the latest weather and pertinent information (like runways in use) every hour a new "atis code" comes out and is assigned an alphabetic leter in this case "W" or whiskey.
Airchina student:Grand Forks approach sioux(our call signs are sioux)XX inbound from the north east
Approach: Sioux XX enter via eastponds (a vfr reporting point) squawk 0135 and verify you have whiskey
Long pause
Airchina student: East ponds, squawk 0135 and no... no alcohol on board UND aircraft
I just about died and apparently so did the controller because he didnt issue any other calls for a good minute."For once you have tasted flight, you will walk the Earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you have been, and there you long to return. "

lmao Saleenfan is there a recording?
What I don't understand is how can one become a Commercial Pilot if you can't handle basic English conversation. I have been on flights where pilot's talk in their own languages when they enter their country but still if you are flying internationally, just for safety alone you need basic English skills.“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”

That is a hotly debated subject because it actually says in the private pilot PTS that one must be able to read, write and understand english. Clearly the pilot in the recording that started this topic didnt understand english. It gets to be a slippery slope. Because it makes it extremely difficult for someone without english as a primary language.

i fly in air space thats popular for japanese flight students. listening to position reports for non-towered airports is a hoot.
A bunch of gas powered italian, german, japanese, and american things with four wheels. On order is a bunch of the same, and previously I had a bunch of the same. Oh and I fly, tool around on boats, and have been known to ride motorcycles.
