Default Hawker Slows Losses in 2010

    Pretty interesting!

Hawker Beechcraft today reported that its 2010 sales decreased $393.8 million compared to a year earlier, but its operating loss had slowed from $712 million in 2009 to $173.9 million last year.

The T-6 Texan II military trainer represented brightest segment of the Wichita manufacturer’s business. Of the 318 aircraft it delivered last year – versus 418 in 2009 – 80 were T-6s. The company is hopeful that the U.S. Air Force will buy an weaponized version of the T-6 to serve as its light attack aircraft. Meanwhile, the company delivered 73 business jets and has since halted production of one of those models, the Hawker 400XP. It also delivered 114 King Airs and 51 piston models.

Net sales for 2010 were $2.804 billion versus $3.198 billion in 2009; T-6 sales totaled $681.1 million last year. Order backlog at year end was $1.4 billion, down $500 million from three months earlier. The company said the backlog includes “significant orders” from the U.S. government and that many aircraft in the backlog “are not expected to be delivered in 2011.”

I noticed a headline about the company a few days ago but wasn't surprised to see the numbers in the red again. I still think it's better now than when it was a Raytheon stepchild.

It's not like it was when Walter and Olive Ann were in charge and it was a family business. I met her a couple of times. What an impressive person.

They are an impressive company. I have had a few flights on a Hawker 800 and was extremely impressed with the jet. They put out a great product.
