    Default Aviation.............?

    Hi All;

    Does anyone like general aviation? I'm talking single engines and maybe even twin engines. If so what do you fly and what airport do you fly out of?

    Regards

    GA would be Cessna, C172 or C182. I do want to try the Caravan one day.

    I usually fly out of KVNY or KSMO.

    my job is flying for an airline and while the jet is a lot of fun, you never get that seat of the pants excitement of a little plane. every now and then I go and rent a Cub and fly out of new smyrna beach, FL. to me its like the difference between a car and a motorcycle. with the cub there are no doors or windows, the radio barely works, basic instruments, and a stick instead of a yoke. you get such a connected feel and its so much fun even though it can only do about 80 kts cruise. flying up a river at 10 feet off the water is about as good as it gets. also the cub burns about 4 gallons/hour so its dirt cheap!

    When I was 16, we had a close family friend who had lost his own son at 16. I had never flown and his close friend owned Waynesboro Airport. So, the owner took us up in a 4 seat Cessna. As soon as we left the ground he said here you go and gave me the controls till we landed. He talked me through everything.

    I have a close friend who is a pilot. He's flown F-16's, Lear Jets, FedEx cargo, and now unmanned vehicles. We hang out all the time.

    As a part of my job, I get to be around hangars and aircraft all the time providing Lista and other solutions for the hangars and maintenance facilities. I'm in the process of working on a private hangar at someone's residence. He owns a bi-plane and part of my contract is that I get taken up.

    Its what I do for a living.... at least for now. I am a flight instructor for the University of North Dakota. While the weather up here right now has me hating it I really do love my job. There are few jobs out there even with all of the restrictions by the FAA etc etc on me where i can feel as free as I do when I fly a small plane. getting in low over some fields and having fun practicing soft fields on itty bitty grass strips is what makes it so awesome.

    I was going to attend college there for their aviation program. Some nice planes up there. Diamonds right? Or is that somewhere else.

    I fly a 172 with a beefy 180 engine out of KHAO in Ohio. Almost got my private, and love every minute of it. Unfortunately, weather here sucks in the winter, so not much flying going on.

    I still fly a Beechcraft V35TC that has been in the family for 35 years. I've flown approximately 120 different models oraircraft over the years; and have been based at either KBJC or KAPA the whole time.

    We actually had diamonds back in the late 90's early 2000's we sold them and changed to an exclusive piper fleet with warrior's arrows and seminoles. Since then we are now changing out the warriors and arrows for the C172s with the 180 engine. We dont need the arrows for complex to certify commercial pilots anymore as per the new regs so we are getting rid of em.
    Weather up here has been absolute hell, we have had one good flying day in the past 2 and a half weeks.... its frustrating.
