Thumbs up Winter Landing - Nose View (HD 1080 - 16min)

A320 landing in Zurich on a cold day. Enjoy!

That was cool. I'm not a pilot so perhaps it is normal but their rate of decent (50,40,30,10...) seemed pretty fast. Is that normal?

Keeping in mind that normal landing speed on that aircraft is around 130-140 Knots (approx 150-160 MPH), I'd say the rate of descent is pretty normal in that video.

Maybe some pilots could chime in, if I'm mistaken.

It's normal. We try keep a 6/700fpm decent until around 20ish feet.

I need to see the legalities of posting some of the things I've recorded, but I have a nice video of a H-60 doing a hard landing to outrun the snow in NY. Not on a runway either of course.

Looks completely normal. @600 fpm +/- 100 fpm is about what the decent rate is on an ILS or GPS approach when the autopilot is locked on the glideslope. And the speed is adjusted for wind and weight a little bit to keep the ground speed in the acceptable zone.

If all the landings I make were that good or at least looked that easy then I'd be a lot happier with my skill level and profiency.
