Yeah it's insane, supposedly a lot of people complained about it.

I believe a round trip ticket from New York to London was about $10k. It sucks that I'll never be able to fly in the Concorde

But yea British Airways are looking at the engines on one of their Concordes to see about their flight worthiness to at least do a flyover at the Olympics if not a few legacy flights.

I remember when I was younger, I used to see those lines in the sky. My father told me it was from "supersonic jets" that fly very high in the sky. I only realized they were concords when I saw a special about them, and then realized that I no longer see those lines in the sky!!!

I thought they only broke the sound barrier over the ocean to avoid this...

In the end, the concorde just wasn't cost effective. The seats were too expensive for them to make money. They were losing money just operating. The concorde was too far ahead of its time

Exactly, and that's why from the day it was limited by that ruling the clock was always ticking. Effectively London-New York was the only viable route based on distance over water and the benefit of travelling East-West and arriving in New York before you left London.

I used to see or at least hear it every day living in London. Even on it's approach in to Heathrow it was so much louder and more distinctive than anything else flying. I never grew tired of it, I would always go to the window to see it. It was a tragedy in many senses of the word when it was finally grounded. I made sure I saw it at first hand flying overhead on it's final flight back in to Heathrow.

It was one of my dreams to sail to New York on the QE2 and fly home on Concorde.

Are you referring to the contrails (lines of "smoke/vapor" coming from the back of the plane)??

If so, take a look outside and you'll most likely see them. You don't have to go supersonic to leave a trail.
