    Flight on B-17 gives appreciation of WWII heroes - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

    My grandfather was a tail gunner on one of these during WWII.
    Pretty amazing aircraft.

    Took a ride in a B-17 myself a few years ago... the Collings Foundation's "Nine O Nine". Got to walk around all through the thing during flight as well as stick my head out the top. Such an amazing experience.
    I highly recommend it if you have the chance. Check out The Collings Foundation - Preserving Living Aviation History for Future Generations They have a few aircraft they take on US tours. Might be coming to an airstrip near you.

    Darker blue is factory color, but light blue and grey are vinyl.

    i had a chance to sit in one of these a crawl around to the different areas, this was in Oshkosh, WI. They're definitely amazing aircraft!
