The area where they have all the temporary hangars set up

    Artsy pic of Nicolas' plane

The camera on the vertical stabilizer that broadcasts the image on tv

ARRI was there making a documentary on the race, the guy told me this camera is $72,000 just for the body

    Nicolas and his plane

One of the Red Bull sponsored planes. They are so light one person could push them around but they used two.

This guy's plane was being dissasembled for shipping becuase it had some issues and wasn't cleared to fly. His cockpit flew open last race and smashed into his vertical stabilizer.

Guy from the FAA watching one of the planes starting up

Another shot of the pit area they had set up

Closeup of one of the engines. They are air cooled and are limited to 10:1 compression ratio and also are not allowed to use electronic ignition. They had about 340 horsepower.

    Same plane

This is the plane that hit the water last race in Windsor Ontario, he wasn't cleared to fly either.

Kirby Chambliss' plane, the other Red Bull sponsored plane and I believe the only American pilot.

Cockpit of Nicolas' plane, the orange you see in the bottom is actually the floor, it has a window in the bottom.

This weekend I'll be at the actual race taking photos as well.

Also if anybody has seen this video, Matt Hall in a race earlier this month. He almost crashes at 0:55

That whole series is in danger of going up in smoke. Matt Hall has been excluded from this round, and possibly forever if my source is correct. The rookie that crashed earlier this season will not be back. The silver airplane that had the canopy failure suffered a prop strike on landing in New York, that is why they were packing up. Now MX Aircraft has officially withdrawn all support from the series. They will no longer supply aircraft or support the ones that are currently being raced. This will very likely lead to serious sanctions by Red Bull against those teams with the MX airplanes. For some reason they have overlooked the fact that their golden child pilot Hannes Arch has been DQ'd once for dangerous flying, and has has two accelerated stalls this year, one of which almost caused him to hit one of the pylon barges. All part of the show I guess.....

I really do enjoy watching, although it'd be a dream to be flying with 'em. Thanks for sharing man!
