How did you come up with $550?

@Chris - A RT from JFK to Dubai runs around $20,000 mark if bought directly through the airline just to give you an estimate. This route runs cheaper though since it's a short flight.

first class on ANY airline ANY route is way over $550...

I always try to fly Emirates to and from Qatar... we have 787s on our routes, but they cannot be beat as far as service and hospitality goes

787's in Qatar? I thought ANA was the only carrier who is actively operating one of those. Personally Ive never even seen one and I spend 4 days every week at airports. Heard they are really cool looking though...

Yeah that was a bad typo... I meant 777. I don't think Emirates will be getting the Dreamliner, however Qatar Airways is launching the Doha-London route via 787 this month. I may have to give that a try when I fly west in October...

I should be able to fly the plane and get a happy ending for $20k...

Emirates has nothing on the radar in terms of 787 however Qatar airways just started their 787 service from Doha-Dubai... upgrade from business to first on a380 is only 60,000 points - most reasonable way to get onto first cause the 20k never made sense to me

i would NEVER buy a full first class ticket if it was my money. i think paying up to 20K or so just to sit in a slightly more comfortable chair for a few hours is just bonkers. My family and me went to australia together last year and my parents paid for FC tickets for the whole family. and honestly....i would have arived just as comfortable in a buissnes class seat. i just do not see the point.

^^ Easy comes, easy goes. That's for people who don't work for their money. Just a way to spend it, and first class is the answer. Then again some say you can't put a price on comfort and peace of mind. So I don't really know.
