Default Local Motors - Rally Fighter - Private Factory Tour

I was driving from Phoenix to Tucson today when I drove past a giant painting of something that looked like a video game vehicle. I'd driven by the giant warehouse painting about a dozen times, but this time I was with a friend who convinced me to stop and see what it actually was.

    Local Motors.

I walked in and was immediately greeted by a beautiful shop and a wonderful woman by the name of Sarah Stokes. I explained to her that we were driving by and decided we must stop this time and discover what was inside. She was just as excited as we were, and quickly agreed to give us a tour. I was mesmerized. Not only was the building amazing, what was going on inside was mind blowing. The Rally Fighter, there debut model, is a offroad vehicle like no other. The cars are socially designed and built by their owners. The cars were being prepared for their builders to come in when we were given the tour.

Sarah explained that she was a partner at Local Motors and that the company was a small company where customers can purchase a vehicle package for around $75,000. The customer is then flown to Phoenix AZ, put in a hotel, and put alongside top mechanics and fabricators to build the vehicle to your specifics. The vehicles are ABSOLUTELY incredible.

I'll quit yapping and let the pictures speak for themselves. These vehicles are amazing and most importantly - American built by great people.

Local Motrors uses easy to find parts on their vehicles to make replacing damaged parts easy and affordable. This is a great design when you think of the abuse these things will take when racing.

Sarah Stokes, who met with David Orr (OP) and I, is the owner of the vehicle featured in Top Gear. She was very informative and happy to show us around the shop. If you are near the facility, I would encourage stopping by and checking the place out. Everyone seemed to be very positive about the future of the company and I hope some day I will be fortunate enough to experience driving a Rally Fighter.
