thread title is stupid... "this is why you buy brand name wheels".... rennen IS a brand name, and they manufacture many other "brand names"
are you saying there are companies out there that operate without a name? they just sell wheels in anonymous cardboard boxes, and they only accept cash because you cant write out a check to a company with no name?
i did a quick google and the only posts i find regarding failed rennen wheels is this one customer, who is posting on multiple forums under different names. obviously he is upset, and trying to disparage rennens name in order to coax out a refund, which i understand the mindset.... but that doesnt mean he is right. rennen responded in each thread, willing to pay all costs associated with shipping the wheel back for testing to find the true nature of the failure, and also replace it, as stated by their warrant policy, which i think is fair.
i dont give a shit about rennen or this customer.... but ive seen too many times people reposting and spreading "warning" threads for products they dont even own, and exaggerating a problem without proof (IE "i know about a bunch of other cases like this, but i cant/wont show proof")
the fact is, parts DO fail... no matter how good the company, sometimes there are events beyond their control.... wait to have the wheel tested and find out what really happened, before you jump to crucify them."I spent 90% of my money on women, cars, and booze. The other 10% I wasted."

A grain defect on the face of the center rim leads to a stress riser, which leads to a fatigue failure. Pardon my engineering, but computer analysis simply cannot account for inconsistencies in material. This is why only this rim failed, not all four. No factories are perfect, even six sigma is 3.4 defects per million.

I agree 100% with this statement as the owner of a manufacturing house. For those not famaliar with material properties, think of aluminum like wood, it has a grain (or stress), and just like wood if you machine against the stress, things can go wrong, and in this case there is no way around that. This has happened to more companies then you know of, it is a common occurance when machining something that can handle a large amount of torque. I find this post to be a little bias but that is just me. There is alot more to it then just a crappy wheel. Hell, even bugatti wheels have seen fractures, and I know they cost a little more then some aftermarket 3 pc wheels, I dont see anybody calling them out.

I like how the company tries to go and justify itself

It would be unnerving for a wheel to break, I've had one fly off and I was afraid to drive that car after. I wouldn't lose faith in rennan after this though."Colors and Whites in one load. No detergent. Hot water. That's YOLO."

Ferrari parts break all the time, where's the hateful backlash and boycott? This thread is ridiculous. I clicked it thinking there was a genuine problem, but this is almost slanderous. I don't own RENNEN wheels and probably never will, but not because of this thread or incident.
