    Default College Car

    Hey all,

Currently the ride is a 2007 C230, great car and I love it. BUT next year I'm bringing it down to school (UofA). I know Charlie has a C63 and nothing has happened but when I live off campus I'm nervous about break ins or it being stolen. Should I downgrade a little, and if so what should I check into? Would love something fun and quick, newer, v6 or v8 and small enough for campus. My brother has a new Rav-4 and I rather like it. Any other suggestions? Probably Sub 25 or 20k.

I went from an EVO to a Taurus for college haha. I didn't want to worry about drunk kids scratching up my car in the parking lot. Also my college is 200mi away from my house, so I wanted something I didn't care about putting miles on.

If you really want to spend 20 - 25k, look into a (used) Mustang, is250 or maybe a 350/G35. In all honesty, its not worth spending that much on a college car. Unless your goal for college is to impress cheerleaders, get something cheep and re-invest your money.

    cheap to insure
owner doesnt cry if dented, hit,or stolen

I know a lot of people who drive nice cars while they're at college, but most of them live of campus. I live on campus and brought my B7 S4 with me.....nothing bad has happened to it, but that's probably because I park very close to the campus police station

And even then it doesn't matter, because 99% can't tell the difference between cars. As long as it runs you should be golden. Cars are my escape for when bad things happen, so I needed to have a fun little "escape-mobile" with me when the time comes :P

May just keep it honestly! I know a few guys that have new A4s and as long as I have a garage like them I should be fine!

I have an Acura Tl that I park on the street everyday, and I dont really worry about it. I would just keep your car, if you find after a few months that it to much of a worry dowgrade to an accord or something.
