Smile How to start a car show?

    Hey guys,

So my club at school had its first meeting a few days ago, and we thought that we should do a car show as a charity to help out the school, or another organization. We already got the green light to use the schools back parking lot( 500 car spaces) as the show area. But here is the thing, how do i get people with nice cars to come over to the show? Should I just market the event by saying its for charity? And do i need a contract or anything of that sort to be there for the car owners to sign? We are even planning to have food trucks come in to sell food. I know that this seems like a giant task, which is why i need this to be orchestrated. So what are your ideas? Should i ask auto dealers to bring in their cars? Should i pass out letters at Cars and Coffee in Irvine? And how should I tell people to bring in their cars?

    Any tips appreciated!
    Thanks again!

Find the organizers of your local cruise nights - ask for their help - they are usually looking for a place to "show off" and have a list of sponsors that might be willing to help - check to see if you need event insurance. Invite a local fire department to show off the fire equipment. Invite a dealership to display new models - Establish categories for awards - best import - best pony - best of show etc. - budget for nice trophies - Be sure to have a "people’s choice award" if you have the other trophies decided by a judging panel. 50 50 for the charity if legal to do. Most of all document all income and cost. ADVERTISE as much as you can. Get other interest in the school to help out - dance or cheer club car wash? ROTC color guard for flag raising! Metal shop for trophies! AND hope for good weather

Email shops, dealerships, spread it through Facebook, Twitter, make flyers, leave them at restaurants, go to local businesses, email the newspaper.
Forums will be a big opportunity to advertise.
Sign up on all sorts of car sites and post it there.
Just do ANYTHING you can to get the word out there.
