Strange encounter with a Prius
I know just about everyone here hates a Prius and probably their owners; you know the ones.... drive hella slow in the #1 lane, blasts by you at 90mph just to prove it can, and of course the middle finger salute. I basically ignore them and/or blast past them, but today was different.
I was driving along Stevens Creek Blvd. today after hitting the CSAA office to pay off a DMV renewal. It was such a nice day, I took SNKVNNM out and got tanned quickly.
At a stop light a I see a Carrera 4S Cabriolet in the #1 lane and just behind him, a Prius directly to my left. I was eyeing the C4S a bit when the Prius driver rolls down his window:
"Beautiful car!"
"Thanks!"
"On a day like this, I'd rather be driving a car like yours"
Yes, it is a nice day; but you get 4x more better mileage.
"Yes, but I'd still rather be driving a convertible like that Porsche (he points to it) or your car. Could you rev your engine real loud please?"
VVVVVVVVVVVVVRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMM MMM
He smiles, gives me two thumbs up and a thank you! And we part ways. That was a first for me.

I like the stories of the prius owners yelling at other people at the gas station for being "environmentally irresponsible"

No way, no way. Pictures or it didn't happen!

Haha, just kidding. Pretty cool.

I know it's just me because I can relate to the middle finger salute towards me, in which I just laugh. From that, I guess I formed an opinion of these drivers.
The compliments are normal. from a variety of people but usually they are openly car enthusiasts with great cars of their own.
But I guess I just wasn't expecting a "Prius driver" to be complimenting the car. It's perhaps my fault for being prejudice of such drivers without really talking to them. You have to keep in mind the dicotamy of the that moment in time: a car that burns oil, fuel and smells of exhaust and loud, and a car that burns as little fuel as possible and completely quiet and doesn't burn the eyes with the exhaust... but we both had a cordial conversation and appreciate such cars as mine and the Porsche.

some people own a prius to compensate for their other car that gets terrible mileage.
