Ive got a 2002 Tacoma 4 door TRD 2WD. 120,XXX miles. No issues whatsoever. It rides good, has decent power, and is an all around great truck. Ive pulled trailers, boats, and plenty of crap in the bed. Id highly recommend a Taco

I have an H3....its comfortable, and its a great car. I love mine. Its a bit underpowered, and gas mileage is kinda weak. If you want power get the Alpha, other than that if youre not towing anything its a damn truck, of course its not going to be a hauler.

A recent pic of my Frontier. Very fun truck!
Also, here is a link to a discussion regarding towing with these trucks.

Syclone.
Just don't plan on hauling anything over 500lbs.

Brabus Unimog?

Seriously though Ive driven several F150s over the years and they were pretty good trucks. Not sure what load youd be looking to pull/haul but they did well in general.

I personally have not had or heard any transmission issues. If you peruse through clubfrontier.org, there will definitely be topics of any troubles people would have had with these trucks.
I have had zero issues with the 3 of these trucks I have had.
good luck in your choice.
