I'd just be an asshole get pulled over for illegal tints while the cop walks up to the car change them, be like what are you talking about officer? My tints are perfectly legal.

I have been wondering why this technology had not made it to cars yet. Its like the shower thing when you can flip a switch that runs a current through the glass which makes it opaque. I want and need this badly!

There's a video where the guy puts two windows in one frame, and one window is tinted, the other is not! Trying to find it! haha

Holy hell...I inquired about this in 07 with some company that makes this type of glass. They said there's two different kinds...one that won't ever see water and one that will see water. Obviously cars come in contact with water so they said the thickness of this one was too much for a window. They also said I'm bat shit crazy and this won't be done on cars!
Ok, so what do I need to do to get this on my car? I'll take it ASAP.Last edited by ADV.1 Tony; 07-09-2012 at 11:10 PM.

I tried back in 2004 to have this done to my M3 with custom windows, but the cost was out of this world. The technology for electrochromic glass has been around for a while, but it's cost-prohibitive unless done on a large scale. I understand that for legal reasons this has not been done on side and front windows, since the previous technology was too easy to hack. Mercedes has used electrochromic glass for a few years with the "Magic Sky Control" roof and may be bringing it to the rear side windows of some models ("Mercedes to bring Magic Sky Control to side windows?"). However, I would say we're another 5-8 years out from seeing electrochromic front side and front windows.

The 575M Superamerica had the electrochromatic roof that went from 5 - 95% VLT.
