Default Importing a Car into Aussie?

    Hey,

I was just wondering is it possible for me to import a LHD, 20 year old American car into Australia and get it registered there?

If so what is the procedure and costs of getting it done?

P.S. i don't want to convert it to RHD.

    Thanks

Thanks for the link Ash...The 91 model actually has a different shape:

^ Not my pic...but more importantly, I don't want to buy one there...this car has sentimental value so it has to be this one (hope im not sounding like a weirdo)

I would never call you a weirdo.... to your face. New laws are going to make it a major PITA to get it in here and even road legal.

Getting it here wont be a problem. Registering it here, well thats the problem.

Currently I have a friend with a '99 model H1 Humvee, The only way he could legally register it was via changing the steering to right hand drive.

You might be able to pursue a club/historic license, but I don't think '91 is going to be old enough to qualify.
