Importing Car to Australia
Hey guys, my family is moving to Australia at the end of the year, and since cars are HELLA expensive in australia, i was wondering if anyone knew any websites or companies that specialize (and are reliable) for importing cars from Japan.
since we're diplomats we don't have to pay any import tax or jump through any hoops with the AU govn't.
any help would be appreciated, cheers!

I know this is my first post but considering i live here thought i would help
With importing from Japan there is a 15 yr rule which mean that you cant just import any car what you want, another thing is that n old school cars form the US like the stingrays and things like that need to go through a very tough test if they can come in the country ,
if you want some info on car import check these sites out

I recently read an article in the paper about Lux cars here in Australia.
A new Phantom is $ 1,068.000.00 plus on road costs in Sydney compared to about $ 375.000.00 in the USA.
We get hit with Luxury car tax and import duty, oh plus GST

Threadjack time
Where have all you Aussie's been hiding?
Its boring just talking back and forth with nytrydr in the Aussie section
Let's try and get this section going again. Post Ur cars up or anything really.
End Threadjack.
Back on topic.... I'm not sure how you will go importing but if you have a list of potential cars you are interested in buying in aus, post them up and I'll try give you a rough idea of price or send you some links to those for sale.

^^ thanks nytrydr!
as for the importing, I still have to find out what procedures, as diplomats, we can skip. i know that when we moved back to croatia from the states, we took a us spec Passat with us, and we didn't have to pay any import tax or have to go through the process of changing parts into euro spec. I think the same applies here but i'm not completely sure yet, so we can basically import anything we want.A successful man is someone who wakes up in the morning, goes to sleep at night, and does whatever makes him happy in between.
