Thread: BYE BYE V8, Hello V10? - sacrifices will be made!!!

My local Audi dealer near my house is great. The owner always bends over backwards for me. They have a 2011 V10 Spyder, loaded in Rtronic w/beige leather at $180k sticker sitting in the back for MONTHS. They can't sell it. Jokingly I said to him, take my v8 and cut me a deal on the v10. Now, I love driving manual - the car is red - the beige leather are my reserves.

BUT - I can always take care of the seats down at Martino - the rtronic can't be that horrible - and red? why not.

So he says - We will give you 110k for your car, give us 5k - and your current payment goes up $450 a month and its a deal. UMMMM, what to do?

Im the same as you...i like manual so i won't settle for rtronic no matter how great it may be. For me, red isn't an option if the interior isn't black. Im not a fan of red, but i would satin wrap it to be different, but I would need a black interior. If you're ok with the three "downsides" and would spend the coin on the interior...I'd say go for it, but remember, theres a reason they can't sell it....its a shit color combo lol so resale will be a bitch....just my .02

not to thread jack, but I'm in a similar position. Im planning on ordering a 2013 S4 face lift...I've got it all spec'd out (based on 2012 S4 options etc) but I just came across a 2008 22,000 mile Glut Orange RS4. there are only 4 glut orange RS4's in the world. Do I get a brand new car spec'd out to exactly how i want it with a warranty etc or do i get a rare car. I can make the 2013 S4 way faster for a lot cheaper too keep that in mind lol. But the RS4 would get a satin wrap and ADVs...decisions decisions

Considering that is your current one I would say stick to the V8, but that is because Ibis is my favorite

You guys are aware this is Jay's thread, right? I already know there will be a lot planned for this thing and I'm willing to bet this V10 is going to look awesome when he's done with it. I say go for it. Why not? You can always change it up again if you get sick of it or bored down the line.

I say go for it. If unlike get custom interior work done, a fully red with black/carbon work could be sick

Thanks for all the input guys. I am in a heavy mind f()ck over this decision. I know I can make it look bad ass...a red drop top, lowered on HRE's or something..blacked out. BUT I do like the white.

Yeah. The interior would be done black leather/alcantera w red stitching by Martino. I am not worried about the little things like that. I am wondering if the Rtronic in the v10 is good enough. My v8 r8 is fun, has power - but i want more. I don't want to drop 20k on a supercharger. I'd rather do a v10 with exhaust and ecu - call it a day. I guess I gotta find some v10's in red to change my mind.

I was in a similar situation when I traded my Viper for the R8. The sales manager was upfront and was giving me offers I couldn't refuse, but I didn't like any of the R8's they had in the showroom. He ended up sending one of the R8's he had to another dealer in a trade for the color combo and manual transmission I wanted. Maybe your dealer can trade that Red Spyder for a Ibis White Spyder with a manual and still give you the same deal?
