R8 APR Engine Tune
Has anyone else done this on theirs?
Or the Stasis.. though I'm not sure why someone would pay $1000 more for the same thing.
I just got the 91 octane tune done on my v10 R8 last weekend at Winn VW in Newark (they were the only place open on the weekends). I didn't know the tune would take over an hour since they basically do it over the internet and get the program from APR's central HQ. It felt a little better using a real car dealership than a backalley garage anyways. But I digress..
There is a fairly noticeable difference in speed and power when I gun it (though nothing Earth shattering.. I'm sure the 93 octane tune would be pretty epic), especially at the top end maybe above 5k or 6k rpm. The biggest difference though is the power band and how it's delivered, even at regular acceleration (freeways, stoplights, and of course when it's floored as well, etc..). The power feels much smoother and more linear with a better throttle response.
Comparing now to what it was before, the throttle and power delivery below 3k or 4k rpm felt a bit 'slushy' and bogged down. Now, the engine feels lighter and more nimble in its response. Shift times are also fairly quicker in both normal and 'sport' mode.
Verdict: One content customer! =) Sure, maybe the price is a bit steep, but things get like that when you start playing with supercars. Bang for the buck, it's still the best thing you can do though. After all, it's pretty much the same engine tune as the R8GT and bringing it back to 'stock' lamborghini settings (but still more refined).2010 Audi R8 V10

The 93 octane tune does make a difference especially in the higher rpm range..
Enjoy the car in good health.Velos | Designwerks
