    Question R8 owners out there???

Looking to get reviews and advice from current or past owners of the R8.
Considering one in the near future, and would like to get some good solid info firsthand.

Most likely gonna have to settle for the 4.2, so I don't even wanna drive the 5.2

~Is there any reason at all to avoid the 08 model year? Most first year models tend to have some "issues".....
    ~R-tronic, or 6MT?
~Are there any MUST HAVE options to make this car more enjoyable, and better for future resale?

I was considering an 06-07 Gallardo, but considering the R8 is newer, and has much factory warranty remaining, is a big PLUS for me personally.

Found an 08 in Imola yellow (supposedly 1 of 2 in this color). Thoughts on that color posing as a problem or benefit for resale?? Typically, I would consider it a plus to have a rare car in a very rare color, but it can sometimes hurt resale as well.

    Thanks in advance!

I have a 2010 V-10 so I cant comment on the V-8. Other than that, it is the best car I have ever owned. While many prefer the manual I really am happy with the r-tronic. It is really a very comfortable car and well put together.

Yellow is a color that many either love or hate, I had a Ferrari 360 in yellow and it took me significantly longer to sell than my previous red Ferraris.

Thanks for the reply. I have heard nothing but good about the R8 in general, but want to hear it straight from the owners themselves.

Enjoy your new 5.2 in good health!

Driven a few of them... they really are very solid cars. I will admit that the cockpit feels very small... I personally have driven the Rtronics as well as the proper gated manual gear box... I still love the manual. Really great on the R8.

    Good luck!

I have a 2009 with the manual transmission and of course twin turbos. I can't say enough good things about it. It is the most enjoyable exotic that I have owned overall. It definitely isn't the fastest thing that I've driven but the car shines so brightly in every other aspect. Feel free to give me a call if you'd like to talk about the car.

Me too... I want a Superleggera but then I would have to keep the QP as I would look like a Ahole pulling up to walmart in a Lambo.

The R8 seems like a perfect balance of exotic and reliability/usability around Chicago.

The V10 is amazing but $$$ A used R8V8 is my choice as well.

go with the 2008, the only thing you're getting by buying an 09 is a little more warranty and a higher price. you want to get carbon fiber blades and bang & olufsen sound = the sheeeit! the V8 is plenty of fun and power. and...i would not do the yellow, because that REALLY does affect resale value, remember people like to stay with black, silver, white... with yellow you're getting a very limited selling market.

Ive seen some guy around my workplace drive his alot. I saw it once this past winter right after a little snow, and alot in the summer. Looks like as you said the perfect balance for an exotic with no reliabilitiy issues.

@D-VO what made you want to go after the R8?
