yeah, recommendations would be totally different between the 3.2 V6 (n/a) and the 2.0T. With n/a motors it's all about moving air - so look at intake and exhaust to bump up the HP & Tq. numbers. if it is turbo, the biggest bang for your buck is going to be a chip. APR, Revo, GIAC, MTM Tunign, and unitronic are the big companies for Audi/VW - all of them have their pros and cons, but the end results (especially with just stage 1) are all pretty comparable. i have my 2.0T (GTI) tuned with Revo. a good bit of advice is to go with whatever chip tuner has a distributor closest to where you live, so if something goes wrong, you don't have to tow it far.

Also, check out Audizine.com for audi-specific stuff. and then once it's a work of art, post it up here!

oh and i just noticed you're from Denver - shot me a PM if you need to know about any shops around town or anything.

One area you want to consider is weight loss; static and/or rotational weight reduction will help all the time. A few things I did which when added up, made some good differences in my B5 Passat:

    1) Exhaust - once you loose the center resonator, you will remove anywhere from 25-35 lbs. These things are made of stainless steel (heavier than typical carbon steel).

    2) If you can swing pressure cast or forged, you also save a few pounds per corner. Of course if you go a bigger diameter/wider rim, then that is off-set by bigger tires. In that case, go forged.

    3) Brakes - 2 pc. rotors will weigh significantly less assuming you don't go too big. If you get a proper mono-block caliper (Brembo), the calipers will also reduce some unsprung weight.

    4) Consider carbon fiber hoods front and rear. I know from experience the front hood will weigh in around 45 lbs. but a CF hood will be about 26 lbs. And I was looking at a B5 Audi rear hood at 2Bennett last week and from my estimates, it weighs about 6-8 lbs!!! Of course no lamp or license plate but I would venture you'd easily save 10 lbs. there if not more.

All these areas I'm mentioning are areas where you're not compromising much of anything. You only gain. The hoods, if it bothers you, you could paint so you could be stealthy about it. I would never go so far as some where they end up removing the rear seats. That's just a bit too far.
