Default Aston Martin One-77 On The Road In California

Aston Martin spared no expense with the One-77, It's named that because just 77 will be handbuilt at the factory in Gaydon.

The One-77 features a fully adjustable suspension with pushrod-activated dampers. All those ponies flow through a six-speed paddle-shifted transmission developed exclusively for the One-77 and they are reined in with carbon-ceramic brake rotors. The One-77 features a full carbon fibre monocoque chassis, a handcrafted aluminium body, and a naturally aspirated 7.3 litre V12 engine with 750 hp.

Are these cars for sale yet?
Initially, I didn't think much of it. Well, I always thought it was hot just not 1 mill hot. The more I look at it I.....naw, not 1 million worth of hot. But 500K I can see. People talked a lot of crap about the LFA costs but I haven't heard one peep about 1 mill for an Aston Martin with only 750 hp. Tough for me to say only but other than the power, what makes this definitely hot car worth 1 mill?

I guess its the exclusivity factor...since there are only 77 of them out there.

My only gripe about Aston Martin is within a few years, you will see the "one-77s, one-77 2.0, and then the one-78.." and they will try to sell it off as a completely revamped and different car.

from a business discussion viewpoint and not from would I pay it viewpoint (none of the top cars today are worth what the sticker says compared to what you can get in a used car lot)

There are only 77 and they are completely new for AM. All the parts had to be designed, prototyped, manufactured, and tested. Then built in a new factory. That cost a fortune. You have only 77 cars to spread that out, not 700, not 7000, or for GM not 70,000.Look at the engine bay pictures and the frame pictures without body panels. Amazing technology and very expensive manufacturing processes and materials.

"Only 750 hp" no other NA engine does that that I know of. Performance numbers should be incredible and it does sound better than all other I have heard, including a factory Carrera GT. I think it looks great. But that kind of price like a lot of other things, paintings for example, are not done on a VALUE basis. If you want it you pay it, if you don't, you don't.

All good points. You'd still have exclusivity if they make 300 cars and sell them for 350K. They would fly off the lots at that price. In the end it doesn't really matter to me. Even if I had 1 billion in the bank, no car is worth 1 million in my book. As much as I love cars they are still consumables that depreciate that are used for transportation, just like a Civic.
To demonstrate I do understand your point....I have wheels on my car that no one else has (that I know of). They were built for me by a local guy. It feels tremendously good to know that no one else has these wheels. Would I have paid triple the price for that exclusity...no! Not even double. I did pay a nice price though.
I have a custom ring and bracelet that no one else has. I did pay double for the bracelet because a mould had to be created and that required lots of man hours and lots of gold. I don't even wear it anymore. It bothers me that I paid so much for it. The ring is different. I wear it all the time because I didn't pay through the nose to create it.

What I'm saying is it's a personal thing. No car is worth 1 mill to me. I don't care what they did to make it or how exclusive it is.

After all that, I love the One 77, it's hot. I'd take it around the block....once or twice.

This car, the Carrera GT, the Ford GT and maybe some others should all have been ongoing production cars at a cheaper price and yes, I believe they would fly off the lots (if the economy didn't stink).

I don't know why these companies make these decisions, I don't think it is based on maximum profit. And I for one would enjoy seeing these cars more often in the real world. It's a lot of fun to hear and examine top cars.
