    Default Quick help regarding WRX? {AEM}

    Hey guys i just had a quick question.. I wanted to pick up the AEM cold air so i can have a weekend DIYer on my 2011 WRX, but before i pull the trigger, i wanted to be 100% sure that it comes with the California CARB/emission sticker because i don't want to go through the hassle of risking it..

    Any info/tips on install will be greatly appreciated guys!

    P.S. i searched for a while and couldn't find anything related to this post

    That's because you won't find a lot of tech related articles on this forum at all. You're better off asking this question on a forum like NASIOC.com, calling AEM directly, or doing a search on a government website.

    Are you set on having the AEM? Not that there's anything particularly "wrong" with it, just that I prefer a K&N panel filter with silicone after-MAF hose and silicone turbo inlet. That way, the air flow dynamics aren't drastically changed leading to the MAF sensor, which metal tube intakes sometimes do.

    Like I said, there is nothing wrong with an AEM, Injen, Fujita etc intake, I have just found them to be relatively inconsequential power-wise compared to the K&N and silicone set-up. The K&N replacement drop-in filter is definitely CARB-legal, and I doubt any LEO will give you a hard time about the silicone, especially if it's black.

    Check out the Cobb Sf Intake kit. I believe that is CARB legal. You will have to have the car tuned after installing the intake

    AEM does have an emissions tag. Girlfriend of mine has one on her 09. Best Cold Air on the market IMO! hope that helps

    +1 for searching NASIOC and be ready for all the haters on that forum. There are a lot of helpfull people on there but they are outnumbered by the "another noob who can't use the search feature" guys. Lets see some pictures of the REX and you should come out to SCS in two weeks for the run. I'll be there in my 2012 WRX.

    While this forum might not be as tech-centric as some of the other model-specific sites, there are definitely those of us who have been around the block more than enough times to know what we're talking about.

    I'm certainly not trying to say I'm a Subaru guru, but I will readily admit to having wasted enough time and money doing things the wrong way to speak concretely on how to do it the right way!
