Why is the Nissan GTR so fast down the Quarter Mile?
I can not figure this out. There have been posts reguaring why its so fast around a road course and once its broken down it makes complete sense but when It comes to the 1/4 mile its incredibly fast. Its a 3800 lb car with 480hp thats faster down the quarter than many cars that are 600lbs lighter with almost 200 more hp! Examples would include the 599 GTO and the ZR1 and there are others. It has the same power to weight as the M5, CLK63 BS and others, but it is significantly faster down the quarter, over a second and traps at least 10mph faster. This cant all be attributed to its launch control can it?

Same reason it will be at 7000rpm's at 170mph. It is geared low and has ALOT of technology.

All of these are valid answers but the real reason they are so fast is because Chuck Norris drives one and that's no $h!t. . . .

a serious answer is computer. the driver has nothing to do with the car's quater mile time in a GTR. Just push gas and click paddles. The car is garbage beyond 100mph. We raced one in a z06 and after 3rd gear, we passed him and left him behind. Launch control, AWD, and DCT make it quick, not fast.
