I don't lose on any of them

Few examples of some I've purchased over the years...
1997 3000GT SL, purchased with a bad engine I believe it was, skipped timing, blown cylinder heads. I think we picked it up for $800'ish? Engine was out of a crashed car that we had purchased for under $1000, used/sold a number of parts off of it to recoup our initial investment, so at that point it was free money, I believe we swapped on a fender from another car that we had just laying around (happen to be the correct color), sold it to a girl for $5500'ish.

She ran it into a curb, cracked the sideskirt, a control arm or something bent, so, she wanted out of the car. We had a 96 pearl white 3000GT that we bought for $600, I think it had a bad trans? We threw a trans in that we had laying around from another car we had parted out (at this point, the parts car had paid for itself), I don't think we had more than $1000 total into the car.

She wanted to trade her 97 3000gt in for this 96. So, we told her $500 and her 97 3000GT, and she could have the 96.
We then fixed the 97 for next to nothing, and found a yellow 95 3000GT VR4 down in NC. Traded the guy straight up for it. It had a built forged engine, expensive exhaust system, greddy engine management, upgraded turbos/fuel system, RPS upgraded clutch, etc, etc.

So, we have negative money into that yellow 95 VR4. We could strip all the aftermarket parts off of it, and make a few grand. It ended up with a blown engine, blown turbos, not a big deal, since we had those laying around, and didn't like the quality of work anyway.
Years ago, we had bought another yellow 94 3000GT VR4 from a guy in NJ, trans problem. Dealer said it needed a complete trans replacement. We bought it for about $6k, fixed it before we even got it off the trailer... shifter cable bracket had popped off. We sold it for $12k.
I had a black 97 3000GT years ago that I had bought for $700 I think.

Fixed some gross interior parts, cleaned it all up, sold it to a guy for $6k, and took the purple stealth i had in on trade for $1200 off asking price. I drove that car for 3+ years and 30k+ miles, only really did oil changes, and wheel bearings, which I think total, was less than $500 over the years. Sold it last weekend for $3700.

I get paid to drive my own cars... which is why I end up with so many
I can't justify saying no.

Glad I found this thread, always liked these cars. Glad someone else enjoys them as well, love the killboy pic lol. I'm at the Dragon pretty often, don't live too far away.

I love your dedication to these cars... like others have said, it is too often you see them abused.
Yours are some of the best examples I have seen... if I wasn't looking for a Subaru SVX to do a manual swap on right now, it would probably be a VR4.
