Default Honda confirms development of next-generation NSX - cool photo!

Honda confirms development of next-generation NSX.

"Honda’s president Takashi Ito has confirmed plans of developing the next-generation NSX, plans for the car had been put on hold until now due to the uncertain economic environment.

However, the economic bounce back and recent surge in sporty metal from competitors like the Lexus LF-A, Honda too wants to get the next-gen NSX to the market.

Honda’s HSV-010 project (pictured) which competes in the Japanese Super GT Series is expected to be the starting block for the new NSX.

They're basically saying they're going to be far more aggressive with weight savings than they were on the original NSX. So they're saying that the power-to-weight ratio will be much, much better than on the original NSX.

This is a good thing, as with many modern sportscars we're seeing high power but also high weights, so power-to-weight ratios are unchanged or slightly lower than their predecessors. While this probably doesn't have so much of an effect in a straight line (i.e. modern tires, brakes, traction control, etc...) or even in outright grip (i.e. tires again, and clever suspensions that reduce body roll), it does make cars less "chuckable" and so arguably affects handling.

I think this'll be a greatly anticipated car. The NSX name is legendary though, so if they're going to call this new creation an NSX then they had better do it right.

If this is what they begin with it will for sure look very good. Lets see what type of weight saving they get and mostly what engine they put in it.
Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.

It was old news, then they axed it and now are bringing it back. Maybe 3rd time's the charm.

In the meantime, let's not forget the old NSX.

    WE NEED A NEW NSX!
