    Default Nissan GT-R depreciation ?

    Hey guys,

Ffamily went into discussion about Nissan GT-R vs BMW 335 Convertible. Lets forget huge differences between them, and stick only by price and ways to "play it well".

Nissan GT-R 2011 (premium) with rear-camera as only option selected.
    Price = 92 000 $

    BMW 335i convertible with

    Convenience Package $1,250
    M Sport Package $2,800
    • M Sports leather steering wheel with paddle shifters $100
    • 19" Light alloy Star-spoke wheels style 230-with performance run-flat tires $1,000
    Premium Package $1,650
    Navigation system $2,100
    BMW Apps $250
Harman Kardon surround sound system $875
    iPod and USB adapter $400
    BMW Performance Exhaust $1,595
BMW Star Spoke 199 in Black $4,833

    Price : 71 000$

    -------------

This is the info that I have at the moment and question is : in long time terms (try to imagine, that GT-R won't be crashed in first corner) does a GT-R after 4-5 years will be in less depreciation then BMW.

Everyone would agree that GT-R is a better car, but when it comes to money its 20k more, and question is will besides being a better car GTR is better investment in such long term.

All helpful comments will be appreciated

probably, by percentage they will depreciate about the same. But then again you are in Lithuania so I have no idea.

yes, the BMW will depreciate, But what car doesn't? but the 335i is not the ///M (top of the line in the series) and the GTR is the top of the line in the series. for ex. bmw E30 325i's go for around 3-4K but the E30 ///M3 goes for 15K and up. but if you are really worried about depreciation, or will it go up in value eventually you should plan on having the car for 30 + years.

$71k for a 335? How much does an M3 cost over there?

I just built up a 335 with the options he listed, it's 71k over here in the US as well.

I use US prices. They are about the same as here in Lithuania.

We had some problems in the past selling the cars. For example E class mercedes (which is medium class car) was sold after 1/2 year trying for about 11k Euros.

Thinking about whole Europe car market, I think that GT-R would sold-out fast for a fair price.

I think the GTR will depreciate more once we hit the end of the warranty periods. That car out of warranty will be a huge headache to fix. Transmissions out....oh...20k.

A local dealer has them for around that price with most of the options included.

I have both, with every package you mentioned, granted my GT-R is a 2010 and the 335i is a 07, mechanically they are identical. The GT-R is easily worth the extra $20k and then some. Let's put it this way, my 335i now is worth about $27-28k, way less than half what it was new, and I paid $70k for my GTR last month, to me, it's easily worth the extra $40k. I have a hard time believing GTR's will depreciate that way when they are 4 years old.

L4MBORGH1NI made a very good point, the 335i is not the top tier in BMW's 3 series line up, let alone their line up all together. The GT-R is the flagship for Nissan.

Same goes for any car, out of warranty price hits aren't exclusive to the GT-R.
