Default Project "GOAT 6.0" (Build Thread)

EDIT 9/27....Pictures are on a lot of different pages. So read the entire thread

Starting a new project car this month.

    Car: 2nd Gen 01-04 Lexus GS300

    motor: LS2 6.0L with a Tremec T-56 6-speed
Complete motor/drivetrain is out of a 2006 GTO. Has 15k miles on it.

I have been looking daily for a perfect car to start this project, must be black interior. Will hopefully find one within the next couple of weeks.

Will update this thread as I get the car/parts etc....

    Should be a fun one!!!!

HUGE THANKS to DGR Fabrication in Redwood City! They are the GO TO guys for Fab work and LSx motor swaps!

Ridiculous. Props for not just boosting the 2JZ and stuffing in a Getrag V160 (though that would be equally as awesome).

thanks buddy. yeah many people do the 2JZ w/ the 6-speed V160. Then single turbo.

problem is, in CA that is not a legal motor swap.

After I do this build, I will be going to Bureau of Automotive Repair in order to register the car with the LS2 swap and get a cool sticker that says the motor belongs in the car. That eliminates all headaches of driving it in California.

What are the requirements for CARB-certification? Motor has to be newer than the chassis? You wouldn't even have to swap the 2JZ, just drop in some GTE internals and go go go!

same year or newer than the car and all smog equip that belongs on the car where the engine came from. OBD2 must be working as if it was in the original car. must pass visual and smog.

Pffft you could pass a built GE no problem - GTE intake manifold will keep you "stock" and you could always tune with S-AFC etc to maintain OBD2 communication.

S-AFC?? old school and not street legal in CA, cannot tamper with fuel or ignition

    LS2 6.0L it is. then S/C'd later. Tremec T56 6-speed.

    Will start very soon!
