I never did a honda swap but I did swap my '97 Celica with a JDM Toyota 3S-GTE from a GT4 (known as an alltrac here).
There is a lot to consider when swapping a car, especially one with high miles. There are a million hidden costs. When considering a car with high miles you can not assume that the only thing that has been beat down is the motor. There are axels, suspension and transmission to list a few... Especially if you plan to throw 250hp at them when they were designed for 90hp.
That being said I was never really a honda fan. I would personally recommend an old NA MR2 and then throw in a 2nd Gen 3S-GTE (225hp) or 3rd Gen 3S-GTE (250hp) motor. This becomes a really simple swap as the motors were built into MR2s in Japan and stuff more or less "drops in".
An Engine clip (literally the half of the car with the engine bay) is also a good thing to get over just a motor as it gives you all the little things that actual make the motor work.

I'm telling you man, keep it cheap and simple, boost the D-series! They make crazy power without a swap.
Boost Is Better
