RON CARTER SCION IN TEXAS BUILDS SCION FR-S FOR SOME DRIFTING FUN [SNAPSHOTS]
The dealership out in Alvin, Texas (just south of Houston, Texas) is building a Scion FR-S for drifting and maybe some snooze attack. The black FR-S already is stripped with a red roll cage and race seat. This is some pretty aggressive and fun marketing from the local dealership in Texas and we wonder if other dealerships will follow suit with the program? If Scion NA could encourage more dealers to take these steps it could really give a great push to the Scion Racing brand overall. They plan to run at the local Fabricated Motorsports events which run local grassroots drift weekends in Texas.

That is pretty rad to see a dealership doing this with a new car to promote it!! LOVE THIS!

With all that weight removed, I bet it's pretty easy to break the tires loose.

This is such a great car and I really think the aftermarket is going to go insane on these for SEMA. Already have seen one with a 2JZ and one with a V8 of some sort.

One of the guys who stops by my work often just picked up a BRZ a couple weeks ago and loves the thing. Talked to him for awhile about it and got to check it out a little more in depth than when I first saw the FRS at an auto show. Seems to be a cool car and I think this is gonna be the next track day car for your average person.

Now that would be right up my alley. Find a salvaged BRZ/FRS and swap a v8 in it. Now that's my kind of cruiser.
Edit: right as I'm posting, I think to myself, "man an isf motor would be insane in one of these." low and behold, wHat does the frs drift car have in it? ISF V8. God I love it.

The aftermarket is getting smarter and wiser to the lifecycle of things... meaning they get basic info prior to a car launch, get on the waiting lists/pull strings early, do a lot of legwork prior with heavy usage of technology and then drop in their "results" shortly after the car is made available to be one of the firsts or start the development clock ticking. The name of the game in high performance aftermarket is how much development "seat time" a shop can get with any particular application. So the longer time you have, the more advanced your products can be (think about how video games develop in sophistication after a new platform is released) and with SEMA show being the biggest deal of the year, October is on everyone's mind to get the word out but also to get product in the hands of the DIY communities so they can use/build over the winter since most prep for the upcoming summer seasons and shows in the warmer months

Now that I have to see! Any pics/video? The GReddy FR-S that Ken Gushi drives in Formula D uses a turbo 4, but I have yet to determine whether it's the stock FR-S motor or an EJ257 STI swap. My intuition (and ear) tells me it's the latter, only because I saw the car in person and it has a Cosworth STI intake manifold on it.
