Default Looking for new camera to start getting into photography

i want to get a nice new camera with out spending much money at all. i want to spend under 500 bucks, but i want a camera with a detachable lense so i can get new ones if i want a better one of course. i want to be able to take action shots and just plain old normal shots but want something nicer then just a normal thin pocket sized camera. i want something legit and it can be used but something i can shoot cars, sports, nature and whatever else with. if anyone can give me some feed back that would be great: ) also i assume you can plug all cameras into your own computer and do your own effects on it yourself...? hit me back

I will let other people comment on this as well, but if you are looking for a camera with a lens or two to start with you probably need to be willing to spend a little more then 500.

Just as a reference on bhphotovideo.com, the only place I go to buy all of my photography gear, the Nikon D3000 which is Nikon's entry level camera, a starter kit of the body with a 18mm-55mm vibration reduction lens will cost you $600 (currently $550 with a rebate).

I would suggest taking time to check out all different cameras and get a feel for what you like, just don't be surprised if you find that the camera you want is going to cost more than you would like to spend.

Ive got a Nikon D70, i wouldnt recommend it but then its old.

Im going to be switching to canon so i can get some HD video work sorted with the same camera, and so i can use the lovely 85mm F1.2L
