I was cleaning up some files in preparation to start laying out some tee's for Knick, and came across a file that I hadn't posted here. Break out your red and cyan 3D glasses. (red left eye, cyan right, if you have 'em)... I've been playing with anaglyphs for some time and working with the technique over the past year, and am honing it, I think.
Typically, an anaglyph requires to photos taken at slightly different angles... Unfortunately, I'm working with my 2D drawings, which greatly increases the difficulty level. Thus, I've experimented, once I figured that a simple Photoshop technique just wouldn't work. The key is re-drawing some elements (the crap-shoot is figuring out which elements... and at which angle... aaaarrrrgh!), and then maneuvering the elements as needed, and coloring them just right. Between the math and science involved, it's a great left brain/right brain exercise!
Anyway, I'll post two here... the first is purely Illustrator (prints will be available after the New Year), the second is a PS/AI hybrid, in which I separated elements on the car, re-drew other elements, and then arranged them to create numerous (23 in all) levels of depth. (the blower, scoop, drive pulley and hood have a number in them alone, as do the headlamps and headlamp trim rings and so-on), thus all of the halo-ing you see without the glasses. The neat part is that as you focus on an individual area, you can make out the individual parts and pieces on their own visual plane.
Sorry for the long-winded post... Hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoy creating (read as "obsessing over") them.
Illustrator-rendered attempt (dig the area where the roadster windshield overlays the coupe... It's the look I'm after!) :
Photoshop/Illustrator hybrid (271 layers of hair-pulling fun) :
Thanks for checking them out.
