DotCom - you haven't seen the movie - how can you complain if it gets voted best/worst anything?
I did see the movie. Sean Penn is phenomenal but the movie itself is lacking. It comes off preachy to me at times and the story is kinda helter skelter; but i also know my tastes don't run with the mainstream. Should it be nominated for best picture? I don't think so. Should Sean Penn be nominated for best actor? ABSOLUTELY. Should Kirk Lazarus win best actor? ABSOLUTELY!

I didn't miss the point, I answered...I need to see the film to determine if I think it would win Best Picture. The film could be horrendous and will not win best picture because it's "gay"
I don't disagree with you there because their are a lot of subjects out there but, dude, you specified YOUR Subject matter therefore emphasizing and targeting it specifically."Can you honestly disagree and say there are not certain films that are praised by critics off the subject matter alone?"
That's like a religious person, specifically Christians sayin'
"Oh no, homosexuality is a sin and no different than any other Sin! It's the same." Yet, it's emphasized more or so, contradicting the credibility of that phrase.
Maybe you should've just kept it general because this thread shouts out "Hollywood is using Cinema for Homosexual propaganda!" <---Which I would agree with, but to win an Oscar? I don't think it's enough and I can take a step outside & be less bias on what I think deserves an Oscar.

I didn't complain. I said I think it will awarded by the critics because of the political nature of the film, regardless of the film overall.
Sean Penn is an incredible actor, and I've heard the same about the film overall.

-But what I don't understand is you haven't seen the film.
You're making a statement and opinion based on what "critics" are saying rather then watch the film and share your opinion on why you think the film is not very good. Then you can blame the nomination on it's political nature on behalf your experience and opinion.
If every film out there is not up to par and this is the best film out there w/ the coincidence of it's subject matter?
Where does this thread leave us?
I'm just gonna -But what I don't understand is you haven't seen the film.

If the script was horrendous, I don't think Sean Penn would be playing the part.
Read my first post completely. I said it would win because of the subject matter... it is a very politically charged movie, that is what I was referring to. The only reason W didn't do better, is movies almost always dive at the box office if the focus of the movie is still a sitting president.I don't disagree with you there because their are a lot of subjects out there but, dude, you specified YOUR Subject matter therefore emphasizing and targeting it specifically.
I kept it general... read my first post, it is general... in fact there is nothing specific.Maybe you should've just kept it general because this thread shouts out
Finally... now that would have been a much more appropriate response to my first post. Instead you were more interested in what I liked or disliked than what the post was asking."Hollywood is using Cinema for Homosexual propaganda!" <---Which I would agree with, but to win an Oscar? I don't think it's enough.
Not sure what qualifies you to be a less bias critic than anyone else, but nonetheless this has grown tiresome.I can take a step outside & be less bias on what I think deserves an Oscar.
Thank you for finally answering the post.
