Searching for a Pulp Fiction thread I stumbled upon this....
Pulp Fiction on AMC right now...
You know that guy LAbull on L4P, that's me, Brendan. Warning: If I typed it and it seems a bit off, it's probably SARCASM.

i dont go in for all that "its a gangster/drug film therefore its got to be cool" sort of thing.. If its actually a good film then yeah but most of the ultra violent or gangster films arent actually that great

my top films are as follows (in no particular order)

    Blues Brothers
    Iron Man
    Watchmen
    Saving Private Ryan
    Spirited Away
    Brick
    Terminator 2
    Elizabeth Town
    Shawshank Redemption
    StarWars (4,5,6)
Indiana Jones (only the first one)
    American Beauty
    Back to the Future (2,3)
    Evil Dead 2

that will do for now lol

By the time I finish my degree next year I'll pretty much have a second major in Film Studies. I can appreciate a few of these posts. Especially the bolded films. Quality boys. I respect the following posts, lol.

    Great film.

I have tons to contribute, too many to list. If you consider yourself a fan of film in general, try out some of these off the top of my head, sorry if any are reposts:

    Ladri di biciclette (1948)
    La règle du jeu (1939)
    La vita è bella (1997)
    Hiroshima mon amour (1959)
    Grand Illusion (1937)
    L'Age d'Or/Un Chien Andalou (1930)
The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant (1972)
    Boudu Saved From Drowning (1932)
La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc (1928)
    8½ (1963)
    Double Indemnity (1944)
    M (1931)
    Psycho (1960)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
    Dr. Strangelove (1964)

Alot of these are STAPLES of film. Incredibly rewarding the keen viewer, lots of rich history behind alot of them too. It's so cool to watch films from pre 1930 and be like blown away by the amount of things that are stolen/copied from these originals. Go watch the ORIGINAL Scarface (Scarface, Shame of a Nation 1933 [I believe]) or the original Ocean's Eleven (can't remember the year) and you'll have a grin the whole time.

    A few more modern flicks:
    Donnie Darko (2001)
    Run Lola Run (1998)
    Memento (2000)

Not an anime buff or anything, but enjoyed these classic diddies:
    Mononoke-hime (1997)
    Akira (1988)
Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (2001)

I'm also a hugeee documentary fan, but I'll leave that for another post maybe.

+1 Love the cast. love the plot, love the action sequences, and most of all LOVE the Story.

Heat is def. Number 1 in my book.

    Beyond that

Independence Day, (The best at big action dooms day scenarios)

Seven, (Dark, Twisted, Make you think)

Fight Club, (A true mans man movie, that makes you realize the Misandry of our society) and contemplate how Man would fight back if it reached a breaking point)

Spider Man "Part 1"/ Batman Begins/Dark Knight, (good story of the internal battle with in all of us)

Star Wars Part ii, iii, and v, (best starwars movies to tell a real tale of men)

Terminator 2, (awesome special effects, and great story)

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, (quite possibly one of the best and most simple love stories of our time)

Gone in 60 Seconds, (Cool Cars + Cool Girl, + Cool lingo + Cool Action Scenes = Cool Movie)

    Casino, (historic, believable crime bio)

Forest Gump (No Need for explanation)
