    Default Proposition for a painting

    Hello art enthusiasts!

Some of you might be familiar w/ the relatively new 'lil wayne song "6 foot 7 foot". It's pretty good, if you're into that sort of thing. After listening to it a couple of times, there is a specific passage that stays in my mind. It basically reads "Life is a bitch, and death is her sister. Sleep is her cousin, what a fvcking family picture....We all know father time, and lovely mother nature"

I'm not often struck my hip-hop lyrics, but this one has really stuck to me.

I get to thinking, and i really think that this just begging for something really creative. What do guys think of painting this family portrait?

After having a personal creative session on my subway ride, i came up with this.

A really rich looking family portrait, leather buttoned chairs in a dark oak library, each of these "family members" standing or sitting w/ allusions to their names.
    - Father time being an old scholarly looking fellow in rich suit (i picture Kuester's avatar), holding his pocket watch
    - Mother Nature being a gorgeous, lush older women, wearing some kind of dress w/ a vine like design / earthy tones.
-Life, probably dressed like some gold digging hussie we all see in the "Manly-Man" thread over in OT
-Death, also some well put together woman, wearing black and other "doom" like features...maybe holding something
-Sleep (that weird cousin), i kind of pictured as being passed out, or dozing off, holding a bottle of sleeping
    - Greed, as many of the L4P member, i am very motivated by $$, and thought that this should be included. I picture Greed as a young man (20's) in a well appointed suit holding scotch or some kind of money clip, looking boss.

So, those are my quickly typed out thoughts. It might sound silly, but I was getting really psyched about this idea...and maybe if some people like the vision too, i might even want to commission the piece.

Please feel free to post your ideas or comments.

Im not an artsy fartsy type of guy, but I think your description is too literal.

For instance. You should not use people at all, but object with a deeper meaning. Take sleep. Dont think of it as being passed out, or dozing off, holding a bottle of sleeping but rejuvination of some sort. You could also do it in a timeline, but not left to right or top to bottom, but in a circular, whirlpool tiype fashion with Father time and Mother Nature being around the outer portion of the painting, and it all leading to death which is our ultimate end (in this world at least).

I mentioned whirlpool, because you often here that people who are dying are "circling the drain".

Mother nature should be something that has two sides to it since there are two extremes of M.N. Perfect example are the plush fields, beautiful forests on one hand, and on the other Katrina, Haiti and recently Japan.

Father time could be something that is in each phase of your painting because he touches all things.

All Im saying ti dont get so literal on this one. Think deep and then take it to another level.

Wait did I say I wasnt "Artsy"??? I impressed myself. If you paint this and sell it, I want my cut!!!

Thanks! Maybe i am taking things to literally...which would lead to a boring piece.

Don't have to worry about me taking this to concept, i'm not gifted in the visual arts

would be an amazing piece, and i like the literal approach to it. You can do lots of tiny details that you don't see at first glance that add meaning to it. build it like those classic oil paintings, with (often hidden) references to your own life (put yourself as greed, or at least make it personal), maybe to lil wayne (a "vinyl" of his cd on a very classic gramofone somewhere in the background)... it's different, but if you're into that kind of art it's definitely worth giving it a try.

made me think of some of the paintings of Patrick Martinez where there are "layers of meaning"...
