i hate to see people criticizing the FNF franchise...quite frankly, the majority of the people just go to see FNF for the fun and action, it doesn't have to have a good storyline (sure its not a bad thing if it did) but people need to chill the eff out. i don't think the franchise has gone downhill and i'd love to see more sequels after these two.
oh no matter how bad FNF gets for some people, its still going to be alot better than that redline movie! atleast this one has proper actors, action.

The truth:
Having worked on 1,2 and 3, I can tell you this:
Part 1: The script was MUCH worse before we helped them (me and a buddy served as Tech Advisors). DESPITE our advice, much of the 'crap' found it's way into the movie. For the most part, people who complain about it are hypocrites in that they all saw the movie AT LEAST FOUR TIMES.
Part 2: The script sucked. No amount of advice could save it. As evidence, they hired a gay, African American designer for the "look" of the cars...problem was, he hated cars. I almost walked off set numerous times.
Part 3: Dennis McCarthy, the UPM, was one of the most underhanded scumbags I've ever met in Hollywood. While I enjoyed the look of the movie, the concept of "rehabilitating a street racer by sending him to the world capital of street racing" is akin to putting a convicted pedophile in charge of a Girl Scout Troop/
Part 4: Done in Mexico largely after Universal's research noted that a large portion of die hard fans were Hispanic.

^ Craig, wait. I didn't know you were so close to these movies. I have always wondered how / where these cars were built, if they were 'built' beyond body kits at all. Can you tell us more about that?
